Tim Jackson

Tim began his career as a staff journalist at The Economist and The Independent, including stints as a foreign correspondent in Tokyo and Brussels, and for seven years wrote a weekly column for the Financial Times.
He's the founder of QXL, where he served as chief executive for two years and then after the company went public in 1999 as a member of the board. The company was sold in 2007.
Between 1999 and 2001, Tim served as a managing director at the Carlyle Group, where he helped to lead a $700m European venture capital fund focused on internet and technology. He continues to act as an investor, external director and advisor to several startups.
Tim is the author of three business books, including histories of Intel and of Richard Branson's Virgin Group. He lives his London, and spends some of his spare time helping a small charitable foundation.
