Legal and Statutory Requirements
There are legal and statutory requirements that learning groups and clubs will need to comply with when using your space. It is your responsibility to ensure that they comply.
Not all of the issues will be relevant in all cases, as some will depend upon the learning activities that the group proposes to carry out.
The answers you receive to questions covered on the booking checklist will help you to determine when groups need to comply with certain legislation (e.g. that relating to safeguarding or licensing).
As an organisation that has paid staff or volunteers, and provides goods or services to the public, you may already be familiar with many of these issues and have relevant policies and procedures in place. The purpose of this guidance is to explain how the law applies in the context of hiring out your space for learning.
You need to make the representative of the group hiring the space aware of a number of legal obligations for which they are responsible.
