Out to Learn Willow specialises in providing living and dried willow workshops. Our courses include basket making, plant supports and hurdles, hedgerow hearts and hoops, giant sunflowers, sculpture, Christmas decorations, living willow structures - anything you could possibly make out of a rod of willow.

We run a selection of hands-on courses especially for teachers and teaching assistants that cover the cultivation and use of willow as a craft resource in schools. Simple projects suitable to make with children are taught including crowns, wands, fish, butterflies, flowers and Christmas decorations, great for raising funds at school fairs.

Venues for our courses include St Fagans National History Museum, Cardiff; National Botanic Garden of Wales, Carmarthen; Heritage Coast Centre, Southerndown, Vale of Glamorgan; Kenfig National Nature Reserve, Porthcawl; Parc Slip Nature Reserve, Tondu, Bridgend.

We also run pupil workshops in schools planting living willow structures. Our workshops are a ‘hands on’ learning experience allowing children to be directly involved in developing their own school grounds.
