Worldmapper
Worldmapper is a collection of world maps, where territories are re-sized according to the subject of interest. It's a very useful visual tool for comparing countries on factors such as human and social inequality, natural resources and population. Take this example, illustrating the distribution of Child Labour: http://www.worldmapper.org/display.php?selected=135
There are nearly 700 maps, some are available as PDF posters. Worldmapper also have a series of maps on the visualisation of the world's population using a new mapping technique: Worldmapper Gridded Population Cartograms.
Private / Group Coaching for Physics XI / XII / ISEET / NEET
Physics is one of the most important subjects if you are aspiring for a career in engineering, medicine or basic sciences. Physics is a compulsory subject for all entrance examinations for admission to BE, MBBS and other professional courses (ISEET/NEET/CET).
I can help you learn Physics so that you not only master the subject but also begin to enjoy it immensely.
NLN Materials
The NLN Materials are small, flexible 'bite-sized' episodes of learning. They are not whole courses but are designed to support a wide range of subject and topic areas. They have been funded by the LSC and are available free to all authorised organisations in the post-16 sector.
Request for Advice on 11+ Tuition
I work as a tutor at GCSE and A-level, in maths and the sciences. The problem is what to do to pay the bills in the summer holidays.
I have thought about tutoring the ‘Kent Test’ (which is the 11+ here) through the summer. I have been given differing opinions on this: some say it is easy and I should go for it, others say that it is so unlike tutoring the 15-18 age group that a very different style is needed and parent’s expectations are much higher of the tutor relative to the student given the latter are only 10 years old.

How to write Consistently Boring Scientific Literature
A not at all boring article that's full of genuinely good advice on what not to do if you find yourself writing a scientific paper.
Archaeology and what it means to be "human"
One of my favourite excuses for escaping from London is to go and help out with courses at the Blackden Trust. The Trust gives school students the opportunity to come and learn about archaeology, history and geography, working with leading academics in these fields and hopefully contributing to the ongoing process of research on this part of Cheshire:

The sound of a black hole
A few months ago, a friend played me some remarkable recordings made by scientists at the Jodrell Bank Observatory, who had captured and made audible the "sound" of stars. I just discovered that these are available, with lots more information about how the recordings were made, on a recent edition of the observatory's JodCast:

Particularly mesmerising is the sound of material falling into a black hole (just after 23 minutes in on the podcast), which someone described as "God playing the bongos"!

Every member of School of Everything can add notes, links, videos, images, documents and other things to the site that help people learn or teach a particular subject. If you're learning, you can use it to keep track of your progress in your subjects and all the things that help you learn like useful websites or how-to videos.
If you're teaching, you can share useful resources and advice that you think will help people learn you subjects. You can tag each resource post with one or more subjects, and your posts will appear to other people looking for those subjects.
