199 ways to please God
This book aims to increase awareness about the current state of our environment and Islamic injunctions to play our part in protecting it as guardians of Creation ("We appointed you viceroys in the earth after them, that We might see how you behave.", Yunus/Jonah [10] 14). It includes some disconcerting facts about the current state of affairs, but hopes this will serve as inspiration for positive action (oftentimes saving money at the same time).

Pilates instructors - volunteer and expand your experience!
Last winter I volunteered at a night shelter for homeless people and was inspired to get more involved.
I'm currently creating Pilates Street, a London-based project to link up Pilates instructors with organisations working with people living in or recovering from homelessness, addiction and or mental health issues, to offer free Pilates sessions to their clients.
If you're interested in taking part in the project, please visit this link to find out more and get in touch!

Casa Verde - International locationThis shows our exact location in Nicaragua. Remember - our main office and starting point is Portland, OR and our international location (the actual Casa Verde site) is based in Nicaragua. This is where students and volunteers will eventually arrive after receiving hands on training in the US to gain the skills and principles of sustainable living. |
Casa Verde's Nicaraguan siteThis is a view from the beautiful Casa Verde site in Nicaragua. Casa Verde’s Student Center in Nicaragua is being built using sustainable materials and indigenous practices to the furthest extent possible. This supports not only a healthy and engaged lifestyle at Casa Verde, but all infrastructure and buildings will be used as a living educational tools. The facility itself will be a model to demonstrate how to replicate these practices and give students hands on experience with green and alternative systems. |

Here is the official website for Casa Verde...check us out and get involved in our project!!
![]() | Time's Up! An Uncivilized SolutionWhat kind of life do you want, and what are you willing to do to get it? Author Keith Farnish sees industrial civilization as the most destructive way of living yet devised by humans. And it's over: environmental degradation and depletion tell us it can't continue. The system has myriad ways to make us believe we can't live without it. But Keith believes we can - there are countless ways to move forward into contented, happy, and full lives. We can "disengage" and reconnect with the natural world, ourselves, and others. (www.unsuitablog.com, www.theearthblog.org) |

One of Britain's leading adventurers, Benedict Allen, is to open the Indigenous Perspectives Conference on Monday 12th October. Allen is the author of 11 books, but is probably best known for his TV programmes of exploration and endurance. His first-hand experience of indigenous people in jungle, tundra and desert qualifies him to speak with authority and warmth at this one-day conference at the Pierian Centre.
