Most of the pupils I teach already have some experience of playing violin - perhaps they played when they were younger and wish to get back into it, but don't want to go the classical route. Or they already play classically and are keen to try something new, whether it is improvising or learning some folk tunes.

If you consider yourself an 'intermediate' level guitarist, you probably have a reasonable chord vocabulary and repertoire, reasonable technique and well developed sense of timing. You may also be able to solo reasonably, know some scales and have some understanding of keys.

You are also probably good enough to know that you could be a lot better.
