As a couture jeweller (see www.seraglia.com) I have tried and tested many different methods for making and assembling jewellery.

Though there are many great ways of quickly making fabulous pieces,(and which I can also teach you if you like) this session focuses on the techniques and materials used for quality heirloom beads and jewellery.

In the two hours of this session I will show you:

Bead selection: examples of colours, textures, weight and the wow factor

How to wire beads onto headpins and eye pins neatly every time, plus adding jump rings,earring hooks, and other findings

First working in gilding metal you will experiment with basic techniques and get the hang of our tools and equipment. Then if you would like to work in precious materials silver can be provided for you to complete your project.

Silver Clay Jewellery Workshop (Precious Metal Clay, Art Clay)
Silver clay consists of very small particles of precious metals (in this case silver) mixed with an organic binder and water. Metal clay can be shaped just like any soft clay. After drying, it can be fired, burning away the binder, leaving the pure, solid, 999 fine silver. Students leave not only with the skills to go-on creating but also 1-3 finished pieces of jewellery.

The course is suitable for beginners and more experienced jewellery makers.

In my two/plus decades of owning and operating a bead shop, I have rarely come across a product as innovative, versatile, beautiful and fun to work with, as the Italian Tubular Wire Mesh Ribbon. I have found that once jewelry students start working with this product, they find it hard to stop!
