Adam James
As a practicing Artist and recent graduate of the Royal College of Art I am passionate about art, and love working within a creative and dynamic environment. Teaching at Kingston University has helped me realise a symbiotic relationship with both my practice, and research.
My own work moves between the live and the restaged. My performance and film based work has its roots in masquerade and role-play and draws inspiration from early Dadaism. In my ‘Live’ work I often collaborate with other artists, or by roping in the public. With my film work I am often exploring the real or fictional restaged moment, in an attempt to deconstruct encounters with the overlooked. Using humour as a vehicle my films seek to raise the question of the artist’s role as voyeur, and the audience’s role as a spectator.
I consider myself to have a broad professional experience both in terms of artistic practice and freelance work. As such, my skills base lies not only in the practical and theoretical approach to making art, but also in the relevant teaching of a wide range of software.
