Adam Szabo
Hello! My name is Adam Szabo and I am a cellist recently moved to Didsbury, Manchester. I am originally from Sydney, Australia, where I was lucky enough to be a contract cellist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
I teach the cello (including baroque cello), as well as chamber music, music theory, and preparation for ABRSM exams.
Within Australia, I have played with the Sydney, Melbourne and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, Australian World Orchestra, Sydney Chamber Opera, Orchestra Romantique, and the Sydney Symphony Sinfonia, as well as with the Fitzroy Ensemble, a chamber group I founded in 2010, and described by one ABC critic as ‘radiating youthful energy and vivacity... with astounding individual technical abilities’.
In 2012, I moved to the United Kingdom to learn from Hannah Roberts at the Royal Northern College of Music. In addition to a Tuition Scholarship and Special Bursary from RNCM, this move was also made possible by the receipt of an Australian Music Foundation Award. The same year, I was appointed a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra, with whom I will soon tour Europe, playing at the Edinburgh Festival, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and Konzerthaus, Berlin.
