She has taught as a substitute teacher of both musicianship classes and individual instrumental tuition in the Cork School of Music and County Cork VEC School of Music.
One-to-one instrumental tuition on flute, oboe and recorder from beginner upwards is available. Entry for grade examinations can be under either the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music or the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Preparation for the Junior and Leaving Certificate practical is included. This option may be particularly attractive to primary school students who wish to take up a musical instrument as part of their overall personal development.
One-to-one tuition in the academic aspects of music i.e. harmony, music history, aural training/ear tests, sight-singing, rudiments, improvisations, transposition and general musicianship is also available. This is particularly important to back up the instrumental tuition a student may be receiving. Entry for theoretical grade examinations can also be arranged.
The above aspects are particularly important for students who wish to study music as a subject for their Junior or Leaving Certificate yet the core subject of music in their chosen secondary school is not available. A fully comprehensive course work package is provided for both state examinations.
Supplemental musicianship classes are available in primary and secondary schools.
Tuition is provided at my music studio in Ballincurrig, Leamlara, Co. Cork where I have separate lounge facilities for parents to relax during their child’s lesson. Close liaison with parents is ongoing to ensure that their child is fully enjoying the experience and maximising their potential in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
