I truly believe that the key to learning is through enjoyment. My classes are generally aimed at a beginners and intermediate level. I find that starting with basic tchniques are important as a basis for building confidence and quite nice as a refresher for those who have felted before. As you begin to progress help is on hand to offer advice on how to develop your ideas further.

I find that teaching a step by step guide with a practical demonstration works best. I am passionate about what I teach and love passing on my knowledge to inspire others to create something unique. This aside, I find that laughter, tea and biscuits play a major part too and if you get to go home with something you are proud of, then its a job well done.

Beginners Felt Making Workshop

In this beginners felt making course we will be exploring the exciting techniques widely used by felt makers including wet felting and needle felting. These techniques can be used to create a wide variety of artistic items such as scarves, landscapes, jewellery and much much more. Beginners felt making is an ideal introduction to more complex techniques such as seamless felting and 3d work.

Experience

Creative Textile Decoration

My background is in Textile decoration which covers a vast amount of techniques using mixed media. I discovered Felt Making as an integral part of my course and after completing my teaching qualification decided to teach this alongside my mixed media class Paper, Metal Stitch.

Felting is a very ancient craft, dating back to the Neolithic age and was around long before spinning and weaving with wool.Machine made felt has many uses but differs greatly from the hand-rolled felt that I teach, it has an entirely different quality.

I am completely passionate about Felt Making, which I feel makes my classes fun, relaxed and exciting.

I became hooked the very first time I tried it and no doubt you will to.
