I'm Colin from Flying Colours Maths. I'm here to help you through whatever is making maths hard for you - I'll help you get your stresses under control and understand the material in a sensible, logical way.

I encourage you to explore, to mess up, to ask questions - as my colleague says - If you're not making mistakes, you're doing it wrong.

I've been tutoring on and off since I was in sixth form in the mid-90s, but started Flying Colours Maths as a business in 2008. Since then, I've helped more than 100 students from primary school through to university, taking in common entrance, GCSE, add maths and A-level on the way.

I've tutored over 100 students since founding Flying Colours Maths in 2008.

I've dealt with blank stares, panic attacks, total lack of self-belief and more; I think my job is more about calming students (and parents) down than it is about delivering content.

Of my eight GCSE students for 2009-10, six achieved As. The other two improved from a D to a B, and from and E to a C. I'm proud to have helped them work hard and get the results they needed.

Postdoctoral Research Associate, Montana State University

I worked on a NASA project (Living with a Star), studying the magnetic field around the Sun. One of the papers I wrote had an equation in it that's now named after me (the Beveridge-Longcope Equation).
