YogaKutir is a yoga space run according to the teachings of the International Sivananda Organisation.
A typical class with Dory includes a flowing posture sequence (asana), breathing exercises (pranayama), guided relaxation and yogic philosophy. She brings the essence of the ancient teachings to her classes in a fun and creative fusion of dynamic hatha flow, pranayama, meditation, profound relaxation and chanting. Her classes are fun and encourage students to discover their edge and use their practise as an art of transformation. Certified to Advanced level Dory has been been teaching for 10 years. Completing her first training with the Sivananda school in 2001 she has continued to study within this system, returning each year to the ashram to further her study in this traditional gurukula system, in total spending more than two years in full time study. To stay connected to the teachings and deepen her practise, Dory continues her yearly stay at the ashram. Spending extensive time living in an ashram she has had the opportunity to experience all aspects of yoga and this influences the authentic approach in which she teaches. Dory has also completed training in yoga therapy, pre-natal yoga, yoga for the back and children's yoga classes. Finding herself on her first asana mat at 18, Dory has experienced the true spirit of yoga as transformational practise. She believes in the power of yoga to guide conscious evolution, individually and collectively. Through her own practise she has discovered that regular practise promotes effective, positive and healthy living. Dory believes strongly in making the yoga (union) adventure joyful, keeping it light and remembering to laugh!
Classes are non-competitive and accessible enough for beginners while more advanced students are encouraged to challenge themselves.
