Finlay Panter is a freelance jazz drummer based in Berlin and Manchester. He works with various different artists and groups, playing anything from the Jazz family to reggae, ska and drum and bass. He also teaches drum kit and orchestral percussion in local schools, and has given masterclasses in samba and rhythm.
Having played the violin from the age of 3, Finlay began to study percussion at the age of 8, and discovered his fascination for the drum kit shortly after. After finding considerable success gigging around Liverpool, Finlay wanted to pursue his studies further, which took him to the Royal Northern College of Music. He graduated in July 2007 with honours, having studied with Dave Hassell and Ian Wright.
Presently he sees himself embarking on a wide ranging journey, trying to explore all the technical possibilities and styles of music. Finlay enjoys immersing himself in the creative aspects of music and is always looking for something new to incorporate into his playing.
