Gabrielle Girardey
I am a professional artist, creating mostly watercolours, mixed media drawings and painted sculpture inspired by mythology and the natural world. I studied Fine Art at Epsom School of Art receiving a Higher Diploma and went on to work for several years as a porcelain restorer for a London firm. More recently I have taught local Adult Education classes in drawing and sculpture.
One Day Art Workshops and Short Courses
The workshops are held at Box Hill Learning Space in the inspirational surroundings at the top of Box Hill near Dorking and at Bell Street Dance Studios in the centre of Reigate .The classes give an opportunity to try a variety of materials and techniques. Subjects covered include drawing, painting, simple sculpture and printmaking. Ideal for beginners or those wanting to extend their skills : they will give step by step instructions and one to one advice, referring to well known artists for examples of technique.

Carving Soapstone Taster Course
This two day short course is ideal for beginners and will cover the tools and techniques used to carve and finish this soft and easily worked material, to produce a small (hand held) sculpture.
One piece of stone and the use of basic materials and equipment are included in the fee.

An introduction to this painterly and expressive form of printmaking. Monoprint is a simple form of printmaking where ink is rolled onto sheet of glass or plastic and is worked into to produce a one off image.
No previous printmaking experience is required. As no printing press is used the methods learnt can be repeated at home with easily purchased materials.
The use of basic materials and equipment are included in the fee. Please book in advance as places are limited .
