Hugh Strathern

Hi, I'm Hugh. I am a professional singer, based in south Wales.
I graduated with a Post graduate Diploma in vocal studies from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2004 and since then have become involved with a number of organisations, including Only Men Aloud, which I have been a member of for 8 years.
I teach all ages and abilities in classical and musical theatre styles and can advise on other styles.

Whilst at college I gave singing lessons to the choristers of the Cardiff Metropolitan Cathedral for two years.

This is not a one size fits all approach. Learning to sing can be a very personal and unique journey for people and so I hope to be able to help people along that journey. They may want help to pass an audition, or to take grades or exams, or maybe they just come for the love of singing.
I believe in emphasising the importance of healthy vocalisation for all singers regardless of the genre and style and so although I do not subscribe to a particular school of vocal technique, I do teach aspects of technique to promote vocal longevity and health.
I have approved teacher status from the Incorporated society of Musicians and abide by it's codes of practice.
