James is a Scarborough based Singing Teacher specialising in one-to-one singing lessons as well as group teaching. Whether you are a complete beginner, or you’re a more experienced singer who would like to expand on your knowledge and technique, James can provide tailored singing lessons at an affordable price. Learn how to use the voice safely, increase range, power and stamina, build confidence, support your voice, microphone technique and performance and much more. James’ lessons are available as a regular course, or as a one-off ‘workshop’. Lessons last between 30 minutes and one hour, or between one hour and 90 minutes for a one-off ‘workshop’.
James has been interested in performing and the entertainment industry from a very young age, singing in concerts at his primary school and putting on little shows at home for his family. However, James first performed in a theatre show in 2005 in the Scarborough YMCA Productions pantomime, Pinocchio.
James has worked in many aspects of the entertainment industry, including summer seasons, variety, pantomime, musicals and cabaret. One major highlight of his career so far was performing at The Club for Acts and Actors (formerly The Concert Artistes Association) in London’s West End in October 2007. James has performed in theatres across the region, primarily Scarborough Spa Theatre and Scarborough YMCA Theatre, allowing him to perform with stars such as The Bachelors, Andy Eastwood and many others. James appeared in Disney’s ‘Beauty And The Beast’ as Lumiere at Scarborough YMCA Theatre in Summer 2010.
James has also produced and appeared in shows since 2009. The Magic Of The Musicals has been presented every year since 2009 at Scarborough YMCA Theatre. James also produced An Evening With James Aconley in September 2010 and February 2011 at St Martins Church in Seamer and James Aconley in Concert at Queen Street Central Hall in September 2011 and at St Martins Church in Seamer in November 2011.
As well as theatre work, James has his own solo cabaret show which he performs in hotels and restaurants, as well as private functions and events. James sings songs from the show, swing classics, oldies and pop hits and guarantees an evening of great entertainment for all his events.
Alongside his performing, James is a director of NAP Music, a music company responsible for supplying and producing the music for a large number of musical shows currently touring the UK, as well as supplying backing tracks to thousands of professional and amateur entertainers from all over the world.
James has recently recorded a new solo studio album, ‘The Musicals’. This CD and his other albums, ‘For Once In My Life’, ‘These Are The Days’ and ‘Hello Again’, are all available to purchase from his website.
