James has been playing drumset since 1986. He has played countless gigs all over the U.K., and has played drums and percussion on three well-received albums by singer-songwriter Nicky Swann. He has also written on motivation and practice for Modern Drummer, the world's most widely read drum magazine.

Among the drummers he's studied with are Steve White (The Style Council, Paul Weller), Gregg Bissonette (Joe Satriani, Ringo Starr, Spinal Tap) & Neal Wilkinson (X-Factor, UK session great).

In 2003 he attained a distinction in the CIPD Certificate in Training Practice qualification, and as such is a professional trainer.

James became a registered Drumsense tutor in 2008, and now has a very healthy roster of students of various ages & levels, as well as several schools working as a peripatetic tutor. Private tuition is offered in a soundproofed studio just 5 minutes walk from Totnes town centre and railway station.

James plays Slingerland & Sonor acoustic drums, Murat Diril cymbals, and also endorses Protection Racket cases & Aquarian drumheads.
He is married with three children, and lives in Totnes, Devon.

Colin Woolway Drum Masterclass

An informal masterclass performed by Drumsense founder and educator, Colin Woolway.
A chance to spend a couple of hours with one of the UK's most revered and respected drumset professionals.

Following a short break, Colin will then be joined by UK drumming godfather Steve White, with both performing a drum clinic (starting 7pm).
