Based in the West Midlands, Vocanics (Vocal-Mechanics) is a Vocal Studio offering both ‘Speech Level SingingTM’ vocal tuition and developmental workshops to singers and artists throughout the UK.
With an emphasis on delivering the safest and most effective vocal training, the aim is simply to provide a massive learning ground to all those with a desire to really improve and see measurable results.
The workshops are great opportunities for singers to meet, learn and gain critique from Industry Professionals, including West End Performers, Songwriters, Producers, and some of the UK’s most sort after Vocal Instructors. We also run regular ‘choir’ based workshops for those who simply wish to enjoy an afternoon of singing.
‘There is no typical student. The more diverse, the more I learn. I am currently working with signed artists, nervous beginners and singers recovering from vocal injury.
Singing is universal. Regardless of your end goal or artistic interpretation, if the focus is to achieve the most from your voice, we will always have a common ground to work from. ‘

A little about Speech Level Singing:
The SLS technique helps singers find and strengthen their "natural" voice by training the neuromuscular system to produce sound in a healthy and effortless way. Singers who study SLS discover a vocal freedom unhampered by interfering muscular tension, which in turn helps us sing more easily and clearly. This is achieved through specific exercises that train and re-enforce the body to sing without unnecessary strain. SLS exercises prevent the muscles around the larynx (voice box) from interfering and ensure the vocal folds muscles develop correctly so that there is a natural balance to the sound production. As the singer gets used to producing sounds with a larynx that remains in a some what neutral position, they begin to feel an easy, flexible, connected, strong, free and balanced tone throughout the voice’s entire register (chest voice, mix & head voice). This is the ultimate goal for every singer… To be able to fully express themselves!

JOSHUA ALAMU: Celebrity and International Vocal Coach.
Most recently Josh has been auditioning singers all over the country for a new TV show called THE VOICE UK (BBC1). Joshua has worked with critically acclaimed artists such as Take That, West Life, Will Young, Beverley Knight, Daniel Beddingfield, 911, The Band with No Name, All saints and Joss Stone to name but a few….As one of the UK’s most sort after vocal coaches, Joshua has also assisted numerous church choirs including the London Community Gospel choir. Joshua's gospel background coupled with his time working with the LCGC created the foundation to his love for choirs and dynamic harmonies. Joshua was also part of the hugely popular ‘Don't Stop Believing’ (C5), which saw ‘all singing, all dancing’ groups and choirs competing for a top prize.

24 hour cancellation policy: The full rate will be charged for all lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice prior to the scheduled time.
Students will be provided with a practice CD at each lesson, and are expected to practice with the most recent lesson CD daily (short, frequent practice times are recommended.)
Payments may be made by cash or cheque,
We reserve the right to discontinue lessons with any student for any valid reason at our discretion.
Payment is due at the time of services. A 10% late fee will be assessed for all late payments.
Lesson fees are non-transferable.
