Communication design has a vital role to play in responding to global environmental challenges. This practice-based research project explores the visual communication of the emergent concept of ecological literacy. Eco-literacy is an understanding of ecological systems and an awareness of how society operates within the natural imperatives of the ecosystem. It is a cognitive function that creates a conceptual basis for integrated thinking about sustainability.
