John Savournin
John Savournin studied acting with LAMDA before winning a scholarship to study singing at Trinity College of Music. Whilst at Trinity, he was awarded many prestigious prizes.
John now has a full and varied career as a professional opera singer, frequently working as a principal bass-baritone for many of the UK's opera and theatre companies. He has sung as a concert soloist in the Royal Albert Hall, the Liverpool Philharmonic, the Bridgewater Hall, the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, the Purcell Room (South Bank Centre) and the National Concert Hall in Dublin.
He has appeared on BBC Radio 3's programme "In tune" several times and he has recorded many CDs with the highly acclaimed Eaton-Young Piano Duo (Wigmore Hall artists). He has also recorded voice overs for Italian cartoons and commercials.
John is the Artistic Director of Charles Court Opera - one of the UK's most diverse and experimental small scale opera companies working with young professional singers today. Aside from CCO, he has directed many educational projects, working with over 100 children at a time!
He is based in Islington, where he teaches, though is pleased to travel to students where possible. He has an extensive knowledge of classical vocal technique. He also teaches musical theatre and offers performance coaching/stage craft, as a trained actor.
