JOHN STEELE
Saxophone & Improvising teacher
Diploma in Saxophone Teaching (Univ. of Sunderland), B.Sc., Cert. Ed.
Many years teaching adults and children in a wide variety of contexts: Universities of Durham and Teesside; East Durham Community College, various schools and private music tuition.
I specialize in the saxophone - and encourage students to play in a variety of styles and to become proficient both at reading music and improvising. Theory of music is taught in parallel as it becomes relevant to the music being played.
Private tuition is at my home and I restrict my teaching days to Tuesdays and Wednesdays (because of other commitments).
Making music should be fun and is best done with other musicians so I encourage participation in other projects such as a local Jazz evening that I run at a local pub.

Providing I am given 4 hours or more notice of cancellation, I do not charge for a missed lesson. Less notice than 4 hours and I charge half the fee; no notice and I charge the full lesson fee.
