Do I need to be fit and flexible to do Yoga?
No you do not need to be fit or flexible to do Yoga - though if you are that is great. Hopefully doing Yoga will increase your fitness and flexibility. It is very important that you stay within your limits in a class and don't push yourself too hard. In Yoga you never have to do anything - if it doesn't feel right for you do a pose or stretch in a specific way, don't do it. Learning to tune into your body and strengthen the mind/body connection is one of the goals of doing Yoga.
Should I eat and drink before class?
Ideally, you should not eat a meal within at least 2 hours of starting a class and preferably not snack or drink large quantities of fluid within an hour of starting a class.
What should I wear and what do I bring
You should wear comfortable trousers and a T-shirt that will not curtail any movement. We do Yoga in bare feet but socks are good to have on to warm up and to wear during relaxation.
You should bring something warm to put on after class.
You will need a Yoga mat, I have some available to borrow to start with but if you decide to continue with Yoga you will need your own. I sell mats and mat bags at £15/£10 respectively. They can also be bought in most sports shops and department stores.
