After-School Classes in Guitar
After School Groups provide an opportunity for students aged 8 years and upwards to learn to play the guitar in a fun and relaxed environment. Students develop confidence as they make new friends, perform together and inspire each other to progress. Each group typically comprises up to 4 students grouped according to age and suitability.
Tuition in the early stages follows a structured programme centred around the Rockschool and RGT grade exam syllabuses. When ready, students can choose whether or not to enter for the exam if they wish to receive formal certification of their achievements. We are very proud that our students have a 100% exam success rate with over 90% passing with merit or distinction.
In addition to studying a wide range of popular, standard and graded repertoire, students learn how to improvise in a range of styles, helping to promote creativity and make lessons fun. Where appropriate, students are also encouraged to develop the academic side of their musicianship by studying music theory, reading standard notation and developing aural skills.
Adult Evening Classes in Guitar
Adult Evening Classes are ideally suited for people with busy lives and limited time to practice. Classes are designed to be flexible with students developing skills, knowledge and repertoire at all levels.
Each class provides a relaxed and social environment for like-minded people to learn under the guidance of a professional guitarist. Students develop technical ability and musical understanding by studying a variety of chords, scales and exercises and applying the skills learned to play popular and well-known songs.
