Karen Marshalsay
Scottish Harp teacher
Karen is the clarsach tutor at the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music (where she also teaches theory and groupwork), teaches wire and bray harp at the RSAMD, an annual Highland music course at Sabhal Mor Ostaig on Skye and is an experienced tutor for the Edinburgh Harp Festival, Feisean nan Gaidheal and various other festivals at home and abroad.
Karen Marshalsay's music draws on a wealth of differing experiences, from work within the Gaelic and Scottish traditions to studies with Paraguayan harp master Rito Pederson. Karen has developed through the folk world of feisean, festivals and lessons with leading players such as Alison Kinnaird and Bill Taylor.
Karen peforms on gut, wire and bray harps and can teach any of these instruments, and is also active as a composer.
