My name is Mak Murtic, I am a proffesional pianist, saxophonist, arranger, composer and guitarist, which you can see more in the following sections.

As an instrumentalist and arranger I am experienced in most contemporary, jazz and classical styles, I have an education in music as well as first hand experience in ensembles ranging from popular bands such as rock, blues, reggea etc, classical and jazz orchestras (both arranging and playing) to balkan brass bands, new orleans styled brass bands, jewish folk music, indian and bangali music and latin american music.

I lead my own 15 piece ensemble where I play and conduct, but in many respects I have learned a lot through collaboration with musicians, big bands and orchestras both abroad and in the UK.

SAXOPHONE LESSONS
What I teach ?

Tone colour and the development of personal tone, soloing / improvisation, interpretation, reading and writing music, harmonies.
The teaching goes through different stylistic approaches following Bert Ligon's method and practicing both a-capella and with backing tracks (i.e. to form a strong rhythm foundation to your playing)

All levels.

Styles: Jazz, Funk, Latin American, World Music, Balkan Music, Classical Music.

One-to-one lessons:

Held at my home (near Mile End tube station) - £20 per hour
Held at students home (visits in zones 1 and 2) - £25 per hour
Held at students home (visits in zones 4 and further) - £30 per hour

ARRANGING and COMPOSITION LESSONS:
Clear understanding of music theory, scales and modes and working on musical examples from Big Band arrangements, to classical orchestral and chamber pieces to solo instrumental, vocal and lastly the arrangements of brass, vocal parts and combo parts for popular music styles from pop and reggea, to motown, funk,latin american and hip hop to create your own particular feel and style of writing.

PIANO LESSONS:
