Mark WArburton
Located in the village of Helmshore Lancashire, I offer 1 to 1 lessons for beginners, intermediate, advanced students and professional musicians, from my brand new 'state of the art' sound proofed facility.
Concepts and materials I cover in private drum lessons are largely based on a couple of issues, namely; what is the skill level of the student coming in, and what does the student wish to accomplish on the drumkit? Every student has a different musical background, different strengths and weaknesses, and most importantly – different musical goals and aspirations. This is why topics covered in lessons will differ greatly on an individual basis.
Topics covered in lessons may include, but are not limited to the following:
• Develop a solid groove, a good feel and a strong sense of time.
• Improve your basic reading skills.
• Learn how to sight read.
• Play along to your favourite songs
• Become proficient at soloing.
• Improve your stick control.
• Study matched and/or traditional grip.
• Become proficient at playing with a click track.
• Develop recording skills and know what to do in a recording studio environment.
• Learn how to tune your drums.
• Acquire a better understanding of song form.
• Develop a more musical approach to drumming.
• Expand your proficiency in different drumming styles including: rock, funk, jazz, blues, latin, reggae and big band.
