Neil Young
I have trained in a variety of martial arts and combat sports for over 15 years including Shotokan Karate, Ju Jitsu, Kick Boxing and Tai chi.
I started Wing Chun under the instruction of Sifu Steven Rigby (Preston Wing Chun) a personal disciple of many years under Sigung Samuel Kwok. I trained privately with my Sifu and progressed through the system, developing a greater understanding of it's core principles. To further develop my training and knowledge I took regular individual (private) lessons with Sigung Kwok and in 2009 was subsequently graded to instructor by Sigung Kwok himself. I was invited as an indoor student and given the family name of Sifu Kwok Zhōng Xìn.
I also attended a training trip to Hong Kong and China organised by Master Kwok. We gave demonstrations and took part in exchanges with local students in Hong Kong and China. The trip also included a seminar and training with Grandmaster Ip Ching and regular training at the Ving Tsun Athletic Association.
Since moving to the South West in 2010 I continued my training at Somerset Wing Chun under the instruction of Sifu Bill McKay. In 2012 I was authorised to provide instruction under the umbrella of the club.
I would have to say that for me Wing Chun is a way of life. My aim is to pass on the knowledge I have learnt in the Ip Man Ving Tsun system so that others may benefit, as I have.
