Paloma Bruce

Paloma is a professional opera singer from New Zealand who teaches part-time in Bristol and London.

Lessons are held in the Redfield studio which is a few minutes walk from Lawrence Hill Station (one stop from Bristol Temple Meads) and on various bus routes to Kingswood and the city centre.

Lessons are usually available between 1pm-8.30pm on Tuesdays, 10am- 8.30pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 10am-6pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The teaching schedule sometimes changes according to the teacher's performances and rehearsals. Please enquire if a time that suits you is not listed as it may sometimes be available.

Paloma has taught a wide variety of singers from all over the world, ranging from opera singers, classical, folk, jazz, rock and pop singers. Absolute beginners are welcome as well as professional singers. Paloma has been teaching for over 12 years and teaches many young classical/opera singers, some of whom have gone on to be accepted to music colleges in the UK and around the world. She has also coached professional pop and rock singers who perform around the world including a professional recording artist who has performed at The Glastonbury Festival.

Lessons focus on developing resonance, effective breath support, and a relaxed and even-sounding tone. Paloma likes to help her pupils to achieve a good understanding of their own voice so that they feel in control of their own development.

Lessons are at the pupil's own pace and the student's individual needs catered for. Paloma encourages her pupils to improve their sightreading, which allows the pupil to feel confident in their technical development, and to feel that they are able to apply their knowledge to any new music that they learn.
