Richard Powell
I am an Ableton / Computer Music Production tutor who works at Connect for Music Record Label. and runs a regular night called Meme. I specialise in these areas:
-Physical interaction with music software through a wide variety of hardware control devices.
- I am a performer and producer and I channel this experience into my training.
- I also specialise in helping artists prepare for live shows.
I teach privately to a wide range of people including professional DJs, electronic / dance producers and musicians, singer / songwriters, avant-garde. Students' ages range from 16 to 40+.
I also teach Sound Design, Sampling and Synthesis based in Ableton and Kontakt.
As a working Producer and performer I have worked in many aspects of the music industry over the last 10 years – I have toured extensively as part of live bands and as a DJ, written music and created Sound Design.
I have a PTLLS Level 4 teaching qualification, and extended CRB check, and I am currently in the process of being certified as an official Ableton trainer. I have taught many different types of people in many different environments.
I love electronic music and dancing! To be honest I love making music of many varieties, including playing the drums, the bass, singing, beatboxing, and using a computer.
I've been using computers to help make music for 10 years, starting with cubase, then logic and finally Ableton live. Right now, there is no alternative for me, Ableton live is the best single program out there for creating, mixing, performance and mastering.
I can help you learn any of these subjects:
* programming beats, melodies, chords, sequences, polyrhythms etc.
* using samplers and synths to come up with completely new and unique sounds
* building a performance setup including midi controllers and the wii remote
* recording vocals and instruments
* arrangement
* mixdown and basic mastering
You can listen to my music that has been released on 'Connect for Music' here...
