Driving instructor
Hi, my name is Rob Hayton. After spending 9 ½ years working for Mitsubishi Electric Europe BV in Hatfield, I spent a year out, travelling overseas before returning to work for T- Mobile in October 1999. After 1 ½ years, and some serious thought, I decided that I would like to work for myself as a Driving Instructor, and to that end I trained with and worked for two years with John Baker’s well-established ‘Warden Hill School Of Motoring’, based in Luton.
Then in, July 2003 I joined Osborn’s School of Motoring, where I have enjoyed a happy and successful working relationship with Colin and Noreen Osborn, training members of the public to become fully-qualified driving instructors (as well as the usual ‘bread and butter‘ of teaching learners), and thus assisting in helping this very successful school to expand, and become the top multi-car school in the district. However, after nearly five years, I decided it was time to set up my own school, and so was born ‘Heronswood Driving Tuition’ in 2008.
It is important to remember that learning to drive throws up different challenges for each individual pupil. Some pupils will find things more difficult than others, and of course others will take to driving like the proverbial ‘duck to water’. To this end, we all want to achieve that coveted test pass in as few hours as possible, and in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. This will make the learning experience both interesting and mutually rewarding.
I will make myself available to give lessons Tuesday & Wednesdays between the hours of 12pm and 9.30pm, Thursdays & Fridays between 8.45am and 7.30pm, as well as Saturdays and Sundays between 10:30am and 3pm. All lessons are subject to diary availability. There are NO LESSONS on Mondays. Lessons outside these times can be given by prior arrangement only. THE SMALL PRINT
Price of Lessons – April 2008.
The price of a ’pay-as-you-go’ one hour lesson is £22.00.
On the day of the practical test, the lesson prior to the test is a minimum of one hour and the test itself, is classed as one hour, a minimum charge of two hours of lessons applies.
Payment
Payment is either cash or cheque made payable to the Rob Hayton, at the time of the lesson or in advance. There are no credit facilities offered, I reserve the right to refuse the use of the car for test purposes should any monies be outstanding.
Cancellations - Important!
Should the pupil wish to cancel, a minimum of 36 hours notice is required, otherwise the FULL amount of the lesson is due.
* Goods reasons for cancelling outside the required time scale would be such things as unavoidable appointments, i.e. dentist, doctor etc. Missed buses or trains, family crises, etc. All good reasons are agreed at the discretion of Heronswood Driving Tuition. We reserve the right to charge where we deem circumstances are not of an unavoidable nature.
Test Bookings
Theory tests can be booked through the school, payable in advance.
Practical Driving Tests can be booked through the school, payable in advance, once the Theory Test is passed and a suitable driving standard is reached.
Should tests be booked a long way ahead, these are done on the provision that the minimum test standard is achieved, by that date. If progress is behind schedule, the school reserves the right to move the test to a more appropriate date, however he / she will not move the test without your knowledge.
