Simon Rae

My name is Simon Rae and I am based in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire. I have been playing the guitar for 15 years. I am a member of the Musician Union & a registered guitar tutor with the 'Registry of Guitar Tutors'.

I have been influenced by many of the great guitar players from years gone by such as Jimi Hendrix for his eccentric rock playing, and Django Reinhardt the king of the Gypsy Jazz style of guitar playing.

I enjoy playing the acoustic guitar & recommend that students start to learn on an acoustic guitar as it is more difficult to play than the electric and will help to develop strong fingers and flexibility.

If you just want to play electric guitar then that's ok to.

We will teach each student the fundamentals of musical notation, (how to read music), music theory, position playing, scales and various technical studies to help develop speed and accuracy using a plectrum.

With practice the student will learn how to perform etudes, solos and duets, progressing through grades 1 to 8.

We can also prepare students for undertaking RGT exams which start at beginner level and progress to professional Diplomas.

The exams are organised in partnership with London College of Music Exams (one of the world's most respected music examination boards, established since 1887) and certificated by Thames Valley University.
