I am a practicing photographer, with a strong interest in social issues.

I undertake commissions for individuals and organisations ranging from product photography to event coverage and social documentary. Photographs have featured in the national and regional press as well as commercial and community marketing resources.

I regularly run workshops, across the North of England, for groups who want to get to grips with digital cameras. Much of my practice involves working with groups to help them to communicate and express themselves through the use of photography. I am currently working with groups in the fields of disability, mental health, homelessness and migration.

Make Friends With Your Digital Compact Camera

The first major step to improve your photography is learning how your camera works.

Modern compact cameras can be complex and confusing. This full day workshop is for adults with a digital ‘point and shoot’ camera and who want to take better pictures with it. We will cut through the jargon and concentrate on simple techniques to put you in control. No experience is necessary, just a desire to create better images.

"I just wanted to thank you so much for the course yesterday. I really enjoyed it and you covered so much so well and at a good pace for an old beginner to understand. Thank you."

Me and My DSLR – Round Two

Reinforce and further develop your SLR camera understanding and skills.

This is for people who have a solid grasp of the functions of their camera. Ideally, you will have attended the ‘I’VE GOT A DIGITAL SLR – HELP!’ workshop before coming on this one.

We will start by spending some time reviewing the key points covered in the above workshop, before introducing new, but related areas of knowledge. This will help to consolidate your understanding of the basics of digital photography. We will then use mini assignments, followed by reviews to reinforce your understanding. Please contact me if you need advice.

"Was at a friends wedding at the weekend and got some great shots using the stuff that I learnt on the course. I felt a lot more confident in my abilities and hardly used Auto - So it works!"
