Wendy Ward
Wendy has been teaching dressmaking, pattern cutting and textiles at various colleges and adult education centres in and around Brighton and Hove since 2007. Although she still teaches for the Friends Centre in Brighton, in 2010 she decided to start teaching her own independent classes. She has a degree in Fashion Design, an MA in Design and is a fully qualified teacher who is a member of the Institute for Learning - the professional body for teachers, tutors, trainers and student teachers in the further education and skills sector.
After working as a designer in the fashion industry for 7 years Wendy currently has her own business designing and making clothing and accessories. In April 2011 she was granted membership to the Society of Designer Craftsmen - an organisation which promotes and supports the work of creative thinkers, designers and makers who continue to innovate in the crafts through their exploration of materials and skills.

Want to come to a sewing class but can’t commit to a weekly session?
Come to this Sunday workshop and sew away to your heart’s content. Suitable for absolute beginners who want a kick start to their new sewing habit or more experienced sewers who want a bit more time to focus on a specific project.
Bring along a project you’re working on or would like to start and we’ll take it from there.

* 11am to 4pm.

Bunting Workshop
I have to confess, I’m hesitant about bunting!! It can look awful, it can look twee, but I plan to show you how to make sure yours is neither! I want you to make cool bunting so, it’s all in the choice of fabrics, mix of colours, scale & shape of your bunting and how you finish it off and decorate it. We’ll go through some bunting basics and then look at ways to customise it by adding lettering, embroidery, using ribbon/tape and recycled fabrics. It doesn’t have to be for a wedding or party though, you might just want it covering your house….!
Suitable for beginners and those with a bit of sewing experience.
* Class size limited to 5 people.
* 11am to 4pm.
* £40 payable in advance to confirm your space.
Weekly Sewing & Dressmaking Classes
If you’ve bought a sewing machine that’s now gathering dust in a cupboard, or are a more experienced sewer in need of a bit of help with a new project, a few classes can help set you off in the right direction and boost your confidence.
Come along and make clothes, cushions, curtains, toys, do your own alterations, make a pattern from your favourite garment or whatever takes your fancy!
These classes can either be booked in blocks of 4, or paid per class, giving you the freedom to come to as many or as few as you feel you need.
Class sizes are limited to 5 people.
* Option 1 – £50 for 4 classes payable before the course starts (can be paid in installments, but must be paid in full by the start of the course). You don’t have to come on 4 consecutive weeks, however, your 4 sessions must be used within 6 weeks of your first class.
* Option 2 – pay per class at £15 each (must be booked and paid for in advance).
