I am a freelance writer and tutor with a degree in English Language & Literature from The University of Reading. I have a passion for literature and for teaching. I write for several online lifestyle columns and I had a work of fiction published in 2010. I am a touch typist and I enjoy editing and proofreading documents, whether they are dissertations, essays or personal works. I am CRB checked to work with young people and adults with special needs.
I have been teaching one-to-one English tuition since graduating from University in 2005. I have experience of tutoring and mentoring students with GCSE exam preparation, A-Level students with essays, exam preparation and critical thinking, post-graduate and mature students with dissertations, exam preparation and job applications, and foreign students with IELTS exam preparation.
I have two years experience of working in a secondary school in Devon with students aged 11 to 16. I was based in the English department where supported students with learning difficulties through one-to-one English tuition.
My previous clients include schoolchildren, teenagers, Oxford and Cambridge applicants, foreign students on placements, and adults in post-graduate education.
All students are different, and there is no single approach to suit everyone. I believe that any individual will respond to needs-based lesson planning, and due to the TEFL certification I attained in January 2011 and several years of tutoring experience, I am highly skilled at drawing up need-dependent lesson plans for every type of learner.
