Hinckley Speech & Drama Studio

All our staff have been trained by Priscilla and all have the required qualifications. They all have CRB enhanced clearance. The studio has been running for 35 years and offers classes and workshops as follows:

General Speech & Drama on Saturday mornings/afternoons. (at the Concordia Theatre, Hinckley)
These are in groups of up to approx. 16 students split into age groups. My daughter, Debbie Morris, BA(Hons), Gold Medal LAM Acting & Speech, is in charge with an assistant. These are our main foundation groups where they learn a wide range of oral and communication skills including Acting, reading, verse, mime, improvisation etc. They are encouraged to enter exams with LAMDA (London Academy of Dramatic Art) which are QCA accredited. They are also encouraged to enter the Nuneaton Festival of Arts. A small production takes place in the Christmas term.

Musical Theatre Workshops Friday Evenings/Saturday morning (at the Concordia Theatre, Hinckley)
These are 45 minute workshops run by Christine Scaife P. Cert LAM, ALAM, ALCM, who is also a qualified dance teacher. Students learn popular songs from the shows both individually and as a group. The majority of Saturday students link these workshops in with their Saturday Speech & Drama lessons.

Private Musical Theatre Classes
These are shared 4 to a group ½ hour sessions specifically for students who wish to study the LAMDA Musical Theatre Exam syllabus and Festival work. Limited availability on Thursday and Friday evenings and Saturday morning and afternoon.

Drama Workshops, Thursday evening (at the Concordia Theatre, Hinckley)
Debbie takes 2 groups split by age. They learn acting, mime, movement and improvisation skills and work towards end of term and external productions.

Individual and shared private lessons
These are for senior/adults and those students requiring more in-depth tuition, either one-to-one or in groups of 2 or 3. Priscilla takes these half hour sessions at home during weekdays/evenings.

Term dates
We operate three 12 week terms roughly in line with school terms.

Saturday Speech and Drama £66 per 12 week term
Musical Theatre and Drama Workshops £54 per 12 week term
Private Musical Theatre Classes £69 per 12 week term

Lessons with Priscilla (please note spaces are very limited)
Shared 3 in a class £84 per 12 week term
Shared 2 in a class £114 per 12 week term
One to one £180 per 12 week term

Other costs
Each student is required to pay an initial £20 registration fee on joining the Studio. This is deducted from the final term’s fees provided the requisite notice is given on the terms outlined in our registration document.
