Final Cut Pro essentials.
Get to grips with the basics of Final Cut Pro.
After only 3 hours you will know how to set up Final Cut pro properly & the basics of the interface. You will have edited a sequence together. Final Cut will have been de-mystified and you will be set on the right direction to either continue learning by yourself or take further sessions to develop full competency.
Further sessions will have you fully getting to grips with the editing interface, confident in getting various kinds of HD into Final Cut, basic competency in effects and titles, media management, trouble shooting & outputting to tape/file. Also we'll cover some creative editing techniques and what the best work-flows are.
It is a one-to-one session. So I adapt things to your learning style and needs as we go.
SOME TOPICS COVERED IN THE ESSENTIALS AND INTERMEDIATE SESSIONS:
- Non Linear editing and Final Cut pro: Quicktimes, compression formats, clips, sequences. Common confusions etc.
- The editing interface:
Getting to grips with browsers, viewers, time-lines and settings.
- Basic ways to edit:
in and out points, overwrite and insert, copying, cutting, slicing, moving,
- other ways to edit:
replacing, fit to fill, slip and slide, multi-clips.
- Getting your footage in and out:
importing, exporting, log and capture, log and transfer, sequence settings, capturing HDV, capturing Cannon 5D, sending to DVD Studio, laying to tape.
- Organising your footage:
bins, clips, sub-clips, storage and media management.
- Building your story:
more editing techniques, best work-flows for your type of project/media.
- Working with HD:
common issues and problems, where to start, compressing and trans-coding, do you need to edit in HD?
- Effects and titles:
transitions, the motion tab, applying filters, creating text. importing graphics, working with graphics. Some things to watch out for.
- audio:
working with audio, importing music, recording voice-over, levels, panning.
