Taiko Workshop

Taiko Dojo Week
Monday 20th July – Friday 24th July 2009
Crook Village Hall, Cumbria

Hello Taiko Players!
Crook Village Hall will become a Taiko Dojo for a week in July so that anyone who wants to join in can come and practice, share skills, jam together, or practice technique, songs or solos. There will be at least 10 proper drums available – mixture of Okedos, Shimes, Hirados, maybe a Nagado, or you can bring your own.

Here’s how it will work:
You can come for any number of days.
Mornings will be spent doing exercises, drills, technique, timing & listening exercises.
Afternoons will be spent practising pieces, solos, things you have learnt on workshops and want to keep. There may be other players who know the song you want to practice and can help you. We will do this on a rota system, depending on who wants to play, and the rest will support each other with Ji-uchi if needed. When we know who is coming we can arrange a time slot for individual practice or group practice.
Crook Village Hall is isolated from other houses so we can make lots of noise.

Accomodation. If coming for a number of days, you can sort out your own place to stay. The village of Crook is between Windermere and Kendal. Pound Farm in Crook does Caravans & Camping. There are Youth Hostels in Windermere and Ambleside, not too far away, or a Travelodge in Kendal. There are lots of B&B’s and Hotels – see www.golakes.co.uk

Cost: £15 per day, anyone who books for all 5 days can have a reduction to £60.

Dee (Thunderdrummers Cumbria)
