Age Concern Chatham is a not for profit registered charity, supporting individuals aged 50+ and family carers to live safe and independent lives. Our youth club for the over 50's offers a diverse range of activities and services for physical and mental well-being. The charity is able to offer local Universities, Health and Social Care and Schools student work placements and enrichment. Students work alongside trained staff and volunteers to learn about the ageing process and about enablement to retain skills for daily living. Our resource centre is a place to meet and make friends, enjoy freshly cooked meals, and undertake activities for social inclusion. Our staff and volunteers are enablers and there is a diverse range of activities to tempt tastebuds: computer club, cookery workshops, creative dance sessions, motivation brain training, accredited Chair Based and Otago Exercise, new age kurling and carpet bowls, memory book and hand bell ringing workshops, wii and ds gaming, hairdressing and podiatry services, welfare benefit and law clinics as well as hi-kent hearing and falls prevention clinics. Admiral Nurse monthly carers group meetings. We offer services in the community which include domestic help and help with shopping. More to the point what don't we do. We are user led and we are happy that our client group are taking ownership of their club and ensuring, we offer them what it is they are looking for to continue to enjoy their golden years.
