Art in the Park aims to inspire individuals and communities. We encourage creative and alternative usage of local parks and green spaces through developing strong partnerships with community. We provide environmental arts events and activities for all ages that allow the community to explore their creativity, develop new skills and increase confidence.
Our work was initiated in 2003 by local artists living and working in Upperthorpe and Langsett, as a response to local need . We have traditionally worked in under or inappropriately used parks in Sheffield and have more recently began work within schools and community groups (again mainly from areas of high deprivation and low aspirations) focussing on their environment, creating art work from reusable/recycled materials and providing new and insightful experiences. Within the past 2 years we have embarked on long term artist residencies within schools and residential estates, completed a major project with the Sheffield Children’s Festival making a sensory den with special schools, developed art classes for adults across the city and undertaken a creative consultation within the local parks for the Sheffield City Council.

We also run a volunteer programme that includes 70 people from a range of backgrounds and ages. We provide training and development opportunities and many of our volunteers have gained employment after their experience at Art in the Park. We have a pool of 15 professional artists that work with us to provide art to the highest quality. We take great pride in providing support and guidance for our artists and work with them on collaborative projects where possible.

Don't be shy, say hello. We'd love to hear from you.
