The Improvisation Academy
The Comedy Store Players perform regularly at the Comedy Store in London. They have been performing since 1985 and are officially the world's longest running comedy show with the same cast.
They have created the Improvisation Academy to offer workshops and courses of the highest standards. The directors and tutors are Paul Z Jackson (global president of the Applied Improvisation Network), Lee Simpson and Neil Mullarkey (both of the Comedy Store Players).
* Do you want to learn to use the improv skills that The Comedy Store Players use to make up their shows?
* Would you like to be more spontaneous and develop your character on the stage of life?
* Do you enjoy meeting like-minded people to develop your confidence and creativity in a sociable environment?
We cover many aspects of improvisation and will teach you to improvise life one step at a time. Our faculty features highly experienced tutors from the London Comedy Impro scene and the Applied Improvisation Network and we offer classes for individuals or organisations. Paul Z Jackson is teaching the initial courses.
We’ll be teaching in the tradition of Keith Johnstone and Viola Spolin. That means an experiential approach in which you learn in a safe environment. There’s clear explanations and purpose to every activity, with time for questioning, reflection and discussion. You don’t have to be funny, though the classes are almost always fun. We’re not training you to perform on stage, but to perform better in life.
Experience the joy of safe adventure in our classes.
