Deanna de Sousa is the Director of Nzinga Dance, and is also an Dance Tutor and Performer.

Nzinga Dance is a London based African arts organisation. The company's remit is to preserve heritage, and promote cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.

Nzinga Dance bring the rich history, culture and traditions of Africa and the Caribbean to life via the presentation, celebration and education of African cultural dance and music.

Workshops and residencies are hosted for schools, colleges and other educational establishments, libraries and museums, arts and community organisations/venues, and corporate events.

Nzinga Dance work with Under 5's, through to adults. SEN workshops can be hosted, also family workshops, Elders' workshops, Teambuilding/Stress Release workshops.

Nzinga Dance have been in residency at the Horniman Museum in London since 2002, hosting 10 week African Dance and Drumming courses for adults and children, 3 timews yearly. The Company also regularly perform at the Museum's corporate and launch events.

Sample of available workshops: African Dance - Caribbean Dance - Afro Hip-Life Dance (Hi-life & Hip-Hop fusion) - African Contemporary Dance - Caribbean Contemporary Dance - African Drumming - Caribbean Drumming - African Singing - African Storytelling - Arts & Crafts.

Performances are available for arts, festival and community events, corporate and launch events, large or small, indoor or outdoor.
Performances are vibrant and authentic.

Nzinga Dance perform in traditional costume using traditional drums and accompanying instruments.

All Nzinga members have extensive performance and tuition experience gained in the UK/Europe, Africa, and Caribbean.
