YMAA OrientSport seminar (07.12.2014) -we invite you invite you for a Tai Chi and Sword and Staff seminar on Sunday:
Sword seminar

SWORD AND STAFF SEMINARThe Jian (Cantonese: gim), a narrow-blade, double-edged sword, has been respected as the “King of Short Weapons” in China for millennia. Wielding the Jian requires the highest of skill, and the sword user must strive to the heights of spirit and morality. Practicing the sword is an essential part of Chinese martial training, and sword is the weapon that martial arts students like the most, but behind this one weapon there are many types of sword forms, and every martial arts lineage has their own basic principles and training techniques. But for all styles, the first step to practicing the sword is to understand your weapon. The seminar will be focused on practising the basic techniques (control of the sword, connecting the body to the sword) – stationary and moving, the use of them with a partner, sword fighting forms and at the end use of the strategy of Tai Chi sword techniques.
The organizer does not provide equipment, wooden swords ONLY.
Venue: Community Centre, Gurnell Grove, Ealing London, W13 0AQ

Time: 10am-12pm

Staff seminar

SWORD AND STAFF SEMINARStaff fundamental training and partner matching practice. The techniques are compiled from Tai Chi Chuan and Shaolin White Crane Gongfu (Kung Fu), offering uniquely comprehensive instruction of Southern-style Soft and Soft-Hard Staff training. The seminar will be focused on basic techniques: stationary and moving, the use of them with a partner, Staff fighting forms, learning Staff sequence solo and Staff versus Staff Shaolin White Crane sequence.
The organizer does not provide equipment.
Venue: Community Centre, Gurnell Grove, Ealing London, W13 0AQ

Time: 12pm-2pm

Tai Chi seminar (Silk Reeling Tai Chi Symbol Training and Peng Lu Ji An)

Tai Chi EalingReeling Taiji Symbol training is the foundation of the Taiji Pushing Hands and Sparring. This training includes two portions: the Yang symbol and the Yin symbol. A student starts with Yang symbol, solo practice first, then with a partner. Begin with stationary practice, then move to forward and backward. After a student is able to move forward and backward with closed eyes, he or she then starts the parallel walking training. Finally, he or she will complete this symbol with the Bagua walking. When a student has mastered the Yang side, then he or she should learn the Yin side and follow the same training procedures. When these two Yin and Yang symbols are mastered, a student will be able to change his or her techniques smoothly and easily and apply them in the Pushing Hands or Sparring. Peng, Lu, Ji, An – in stationary pushing hands you must learn many fundamental techniques, such as single pushing hands and double pushing hands. These incorporate the energies of wardoff (Peng), rollback (Lu), press (or squeeze)(Ji), push (or suppressed by palm)(An).
Venue: Community Centre, Gurnell Grove, Ealing London, W13 0AQ

Time: 3.30pm-6.30pm
