Chatabout is a free and unique national network to support the growing number of reading groups for adults with literacy needs - www.chatabout.org.uk

Our online network at www.chataboutreading.ning.com already has over 200 members who come from a wide range of situations where they work with emergent readers: libraries, workplaces, care settings, colleges, prisons and other learning environments. Please join now!

The Chatabout Network Day is a one-day event for members to network, share best practice about running reading groups for emergent adult readers and source ideas for reading materials.

It will be an active day, with informative presentations from practitioners running existing reading groups, updates from publishers on their latest materials for new adult readers and inspiring workshops.

Best selling author Adele Parks will round off the day. She is passionate about reading being a basic right for everyone and author of the 2008 Quick Read Learners’ Favourite Award for Happy Families.

The fee is £25. To reserve your place download and complete a booking form from www.chatabout.org.uk or contact Jenny Warner on 020 7324 2545 or email [email protected]

Application deadline is Monday 20 September.

For other queries about the event please contact Michelle Treagust, project manager for adult learners, at [email protected] or 07545 115539.

Nearly 200 practitioners have joined our Chatabout network (http://chataboutreading.ning.com/) since its launch in late 2009. There's clearly an appetite for sharing ideas and experience about emergent reader groups. This one-day event provides the policy context, practical guidance and support tools for anyone in libraries, colleges, adult community education, family learning, prisons or workplaces wanting to set up and run a reading group for less confident adult readers.

Places cost £195 per person and £175 for each subsequent delegate from the same organisation.

SUBJECTS: Practical guidance on setting up and running a reading group for emergent adult readers.

Don't be shy, say hello. We'd love to hear from you.
