The Still Centre
Having spent more than 20 years, until 2009, in a high-pressure career with an international professional publishing company, I have experienced some of the stresses and strains of the contemporary workplace. Add to that the privilege of helping to bring up a wonderful family, and I have a fairly good feel for what it's like to live in 21st Century Britain!
I started meditating in the mid-eighties, and have had an interest in mindfulness for many years. I have a daily meditation practice, and am currently studying advanced teaching of Mindfulness-Based Approaches (MBSR and MBCT), as well as Person-Centred counselling. I have an ongoing interest in the application of mindfulness in psychotherapy and movement, and continue to study Richard Schwartz's Internal Family Systems Therapy, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, a 'third wave' CBT method.
I am qualified in Person-Centred counselling skills and am training to teach Hakomi body psychotherapy and Kum NyƩ (Tibetan Yoga). I am also qualified in Reflexology, Indian Head Massage and Swedish Body Massage. I'm also a member of the British Association for the Person-Centred Approach, and a member of the Cheshire & Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, who are working to end mental health discrimination.
Looking for: help and advice, networking, collaboration and interesting things.
