    On Being Still

    This was an excellent interview I carried out in 2007 at the international ISSSEEM conference on science of energy medicine and consciousness in Boulder CO, USA.

    It was carried out by a fantastic husband and wife team who run the equally excellent Conscious Media Network. Check them out - free video on interesting topics.

    Collaboration: Music Therapy and Speech Pathology in Paediatric Rehabilitation

    Communication is essential to human survival. This example of a little boy "Sam" illustrates that communication can involve verbal expression, corporal expression like gesture, movements, paraverbal expression like intonation, rhythm, breathing and the entire body (Littlejohn & Foss, 2008).

    Sadly, when the capacity for speech has been impaired by a neurological injury, a human’s potential to communicate is limited.

    The Straight Dope on Learning Styles

    The glorious truth is that people think and learn differently. Some people like words, but not pictures, some like movements rather than sounds. Why are people different? Who knows, perhaps because Allah loves wondrous variety.

    Unknowingly

    Listen to the sound of silence, then you can truly hear
    Look into the darkness, then you can truly see
    Reach out and touch the emptiness, then you can truly feel

    For these are the moments when thoughts meet,
    knowing each other unknowingly,
    a fading fear unseen, a transparent wall of reluctance inbetween

    Unexpected

    Why wait for Love?.... Let Love's meaning truly unfold

    Why hold back desire?....Let Love's fathomless depth find its eternal fire

    Unexpected time, why cruelly steal love's moments away?

    To capture the fragments of hope and ecstasy.....keeping alive forever

    Love's potent youthful, bold and senseless, endless desires

    How is possible to know what and where is our original self?

    I always wondering how people know what is good and what is bad. At first , it seems to me that it was their choice. Now I know how naive I was. A simple mind can see that people are like machines. More like computers. You feed them with a program and they follow it. Language , body language , expression , communication , religion , everything it's a program of the society. Starting with family programming we copy them and follow blindly.

    21 bad habits

    A helpful Amazon reviewer has taken the time to summarise the 21 bad habits (well, 20 actually) outlined by Marshall Goldsmith in his book "What Got You Here Won't Get You There".

    I've reposted them below:

    Letting winning get in the way of relationships you need
    Dropping too many ideas on those who work for you
    Being judgmental rather than helpful
    Slamming people in public or behind their backs
    Making comments that indicate you disagree with everything that's just been said
    Showing off how smart you think you are
    Saying anything in anger
    Being negative

    MA in Everything

    I've been thinking for a while now about going back into full-time education.

    I'm very clear that I don't want to be an academic or study at an academic institution though. I want to spend a year studying all the various things I'm interested in - some quite formally, some just for the fun of it. I want to design my own Masters course and spend a year learning everything I've always wanted to.

    So I've been thinking about what I'd like to study. So far I've got:

    * Pop, jazz, gospel and ragtime piano
    * Folk guitar
    * Singing, particularly soul/gospel vocal
    * Graphic design
