Alejandro Sanchez was born in Calella (catalonia) in 1988. At the age of 8, he received his first cello lesson in his hometown in Barcelona. He made an exceptional progress that at the age of 10, he was accepted into Escolania de Montserrat (famous music institution for young talent in Catalonia). He then continued his music study with Marck Friedhoff at the conservatory in Badalona for 7 years, where he finished his study with excellent mark.
Alejandro moved to the Netherlands to study at Rotterdam conservatory. Currently, he is a First year master student in the class of Herre jan Stegenga. He complemented his studies by taking master classes and lessons with Asier Polo, Christoph Henkel, Philippe Entremont, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Diana Ligeti and Ángel Luis Quintana.
A versatile musician, Alejandro has played with many chamber music groups and orchestras in Spain, France, Austria, China and Netherlands. He has worked with many renowned musicains and conductors such as Guerasim Voronkov, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, James MacMillan, Josep Pons, Arie van Beek, Reinbert de Leeuw, Gordan Nikolitch, among others.
Alejandro is also a fine interpreter of contemporary music. He has been member of many leading contemporary ensembles in Spain and has worked closely with composer Josep Soler. Moreover, he is also a member of Tango ensemble ¨Septetoscopio¨ which performs regularly in the Netherlands.
