Together with Dan Amphlett we run Long Feng Martial & Cultural Arts providing activities to organisations and schools throughout Warwickshire, West Midlands, Northamptonshire, Staffordshire and Leicestershire.

During the last few years we have worked on successful case studies in schools using Chinese Lion Dance, Tai Chi and Qigong to focus and inspire students from pre-school upwards. We also work with School Teachers using Qigong and Tai Chi to aid relaxation and focus.

I specialise in Yang Style Tai Chi as developed by Yang Chen Fu. Yang Style is one of the five styles recognised in China, the others being Chen, Wu, Hu and Sun. I have over 20 years experience in Martial Arts having studied with Micah Hudson in Mok Gar and under Master Bob Weatherall in Wha Duc Lung and Yang Style Tai Chi.

I have also studied in China and have been privileged to train with the great Master Xushixi (Yin Bagua, Qigong), Master Huang Kanghiu (Sun Style Tai Chi), Laoshi Zhangmen (Weapons) and Master Chen (Yang Style Tai Chi, Qigong).

I am a trained therapist with qualifications in Sport & Remedial Therapy, Massage, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Performance Coaching as well as qualifications in Reiki. I have also studied child psychology, counselling and stress management.

I am a creative and performing artist, specialising in traditional Chinese Lion Dance and Chinese Creative Art and Craft.

I teach Tai Chi for Birmingham Adult Education Services and Warwickshire Adult Education Services.

I have an enhanced CRB disclosure, NVQ Level 3 in Coaching, Child Protection Certificate, Corporate Insurance, valid First Aid Qualification. We are registered partners with the National Children's University.

Yang Style Tai Chi

Yang style Tai Chi Chuan is the most popular style taught today. The founder of the style was Yang Lo Sim whose teachings focussed on the old frame or small frame developed from Chen Style Tai Chi Chuan. In four generations there were six people teaching four variations of the Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan.

Yang Cheng Fu focussed his teaching on Large Frame, known as "Enter the Door Frame" because it is good for beginners to learn and also because it is more physically demanding. It involves twisting the waist, hands and legs, rejuvenating the body and making it more flexible.

Practitioners will learn qigong exercises as well as Yang Chen Fu's 13 important points and postures as well as the 10 essences.

The health benefits of practicing Tai Chi are widely documented. Tai Chi harmonises mind and body, it improves cell regeneration, improves oxygen intake, it controls the circulation of Chi, contraction and extension of muscles, improves and assists in the healing of circulatory disorders.

Other benefits include stress management, anger management, strengthening of muscles, tendons and ligaments and a general feeling of well-being.

It is recommended for cancer patients, people with diabetes, multiple sclerosis, parkinsons disease as well as many other disorders.
