Born and brought up in South America (Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil) my main career has been in journalism and broadcasting, gradually 'morphing' into media management roles. I was a foreign correspondent for various newspapers in Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil, and ended up working for BBC World Service where, after running the Spanish and Portuguese services I now lead an English-language teaching department.
