I am a chartered linguist, translator/interpreter and a CELTA qualified language tutor, a native speaker of Japanese, friendly and patient. I am into music, dance, art, writing, and literature.

I have lived in England for 14 years and obtained an MA in Creative and Critical Writing from Sussex University and a postgraduate diploma in Art Psychotherapy from London Metropolitan University. My first degree and MA are in English literature from Ochanomizu University in Japan.

I taught English and Japanese to secondary/high school students in Japan for about 10 years after graduation. After moving to U.K, I have taught Japanese to adults and young students for 10 years and am currently an associate tutor at Sussex University. I have a successful record of guiding students through GCSE, A-level, JLPT, and application to MA and Ph.D. research.

I tailor lessons according to students needs and ability from beginners to the advanced. If you are thinking about going to Japan, I can offer some tips and advice for trips, studies or cultural differences as well. If you come from Japan and want to develop your English and cultural awareness, I am happy to help and give insights.

I can offer editing/correction lessons by emails as well as skype lessons.

My approach is student-focused and I make lessons as interactive, fun and spontaneous as possible because one-way teaching is boring and tiring for everyone. I usually incorporate conversation lessons in any lessons even if they are for writing and reading as I believe a key to learning a language lies in practical application. I review past lessons to make sure you are making progress and give homework so that you could make most of the time you spend with me.
